After Twitter laid off nearly half of its employees last Friday, after it was acquired by Elon Musk for $44 billion, Reuters quoted a Bloomberg report that the company is now communicating with dozens of employees it has laid off. It asks them to come back.
The report says that some of those asked to return were dismissed by mistake. He stated – citing people familiar with the moves – that some employees were laid off before management realized that their work and experience might be necessary to build the new features that Musk envisioned.
Yoel Roth, the company’s head of safety and integrity, said in a tweet earlier this week that Twitter recently laid off 50% of its employees, including employees on the Trust and Safety team.
Tweets from Twitter employees said teams responsible for communications, content regulation, human rights, and machine learning ethics were among those that were laid off, as were some production and engineering teams.
On Saturday, Twitter updated its app in the Apple App Store to begin charging $8 for required blue checkmarks, in the first major change made by Elon Musk to the social media platform.
