Zack Snyder, the well-known director of movies like 300 and the four-hour “Snyder Cut” of Justice League, has revealed that he is working on an RPG set in the universe of his upcoming Netflix sci-fi movie Rebel Moon. In a recent interview on The Nerd Queens podcast, Snyder stated that the RPG is “insane,” “immersive,” “intense,” and “huge,” and that he wants it to be done on a “ridiculous scale.” Although Snyder did not reveal many details about the RPG, he emphasized that he does not want it to be a “causal” game. It is not clear whether the RPG is a video game or not.
Despite Snyder’s enthusiasm, some are skeptical about the project’s potential. Planning for “ridiculous scale” may indicate that the game could be too ambitious and may come at the expense of the development team. Additionally, the game could face tough competition from another upcoming sci-fi title, Bethesda’s long-awaited Starfield. As for Rebel Moon, which is set to debut on December 22nd, it remains to be seen whether the movie’s universe will translate well to a video game.
For those who cannot wait for the RPG, Snyder’s black-and-white version of the Snyder Cut is available for viewing.
