Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng has unveiled its G6 coupe SUV at Auto Shanghai, positioning it as a premium EV with an affordable price tag. The G6 features a sleek, futuristic body design, a smart infotainment system, and the option for XPeng’s advanced driver assistance system, XNGP, which can automate driving tasks. With an expected price range of RMB 200,000 to 300,000 (USD ~$30,000 to $44,000), the G6 is aimed at the affordable EV market.

Built on XPeng’s new EV architecture platform, SEPA 2.0, the G6 benefits from reduced research, development, and production costs. This move towards affordability follows a trend in China’s EV market, with automakers like Tesla, General Motors, and Hyundai also prioritizing affordability in their EV offerings. The G6 is set to launch in China in mid-2023.

XPeng claims the G6 will have a range of 470 miles, thanks to its 800V battery, which allows for super fast charging. In just 10 minutes, the G6 can charge up to 186 miles of range. The SEPA architecture also provides enhanced driving control, with front and rear integrated aluminum die-casting and a fully integrated battery for a better center of gravity.

The G6’s body design, inspired by science fiction and developed with input from science fiction writer Cixin Liu, features sleek lines and a low drag coefficient, contributing to its extended range. The interior offers ample space and comfort, including a panoramic sunroof and electronically controlled air vents accessible through a 15 inch IPS screen.

XPeng’s G6 SUV aims to provide a premium EV experience at an affordable price, with advanced features, extended range, and futuristic design, positioning it as a strong contender in the competitive EV market. Stay tuned for its official launch in China in mid-2023.
