Twitter Expands Video Upload Limit to Two Hours for Paid Users

Twitter has recently made updates to its paid plan, granting subscribers the ability to upload videos of up to two hours in duration, surpassing the previous 60-minute limit.

Twitter has recently made updates to its paid plan, granting subscribers the ability to upload videos of up to two hours in duration, surpassing the previous 60-minute limit.

In addition, the platform has made changes to its Twitter Blue page and increased the video file size limit for paid users from 2GB to 8GB. Previously, longer video uploads were only possible via the web, but now users can also upload longer videos using the iOS app. However, the maximum quality for uploads remains at 1080p.

Under the leadership of Elon Musk, Twitter has been actively facilitating the uploading and consumption of longer videos. The feature for long video uploads was launched in December, and recently, new playback speed controls were introduced on the web.

Embracing the extended video upload feature, popular shows like the All In Podcast have started sharing their episodes on Twitter. Additionally, Tucker Carlson, who was fired from Fox News, has announced plans to start a new show on the social media platform.

Musk envisions transforming Twitter into an all-encompassing app and a competitor to platforms like YouTube. To achieve this, he has introduced several creator-focused tools, such as increasing the character limit to 10,000 for paid users, supporting text formatting, and relaunching Super Follows as Subscriptions.

Twitter recently underwent a significant management change with the appointment of Linda Yaccarino from NBCU as CEO. Musk, in the announcement, stated that he would continue as chairman and take on responsibilities including overseeing product, software, and sysops as a de facto CTO.

While Twitter expands its offerings, it faces competition from alternative social networks like Mastodon, Bluesky, and Post.News. A study conducted by Pew revealed that 60% of U.S. Twitter users took breaks from the platform for several weeks within the past year, indicating a need for Twitter to address user engagement and retention.
