TSMC’s Arizona factory in the United States will hold the first tool-in ceremony on December 6. The latest research report published by foreign investors pointed out that TSMC may expand 5nm in Arizona in the next 4 to 5 years, and plan to Draw on the advanced manufacturing process of a 3nm wafer foundry, it is estimated that TSMC will become the largest wafer foundry manufacturer in the United States by 2027.

TSMC’s Arizona factory in the United States held a grand transfer ceremony. At that time, U.S. President Joe Biden, Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Apple CEO Tim Cook, AMD CEO Su Zifeng, Huida (Nvidia) CEO Huang Renxun, TSMC founder Zhang Zhongmou and his wife, chairman Liu Deyin, and president Wei Zhejia will all be present in person.

TSMC started building a 5nm plant in Arizona in 2021, and it is expected to mass-produce in 2024, with a monthly production capacity of about 20,000 pieces. Recently, Zhang Zhongmou revealed that TSMC will expand the construction of a 3nm plant in the United States, which was confirmed by TSMC. During the positive evaluation of the second phase of the plant, it was reported that 4nm chips will be produced, and Apple will use about one-third of the production capacity of TSMC’s Arizona plant.

Since TSMC announced in 2020 that it will build a 5nm plant in Arizona, USA, and started construction in 2021, the first batch of equipment has finally arrived at the factory. It is expected to start installation and testing in the first quarter of next year and start mass production in 2024. The monthly production capacity of the first phase will reach 20,000 pieces, and according to Zhang Zhongmou, the second phase of TSMC will introduce 3-nanometer manufacturing in the US factory.

According to foreign investors, the global semiconductor industry is expected to hit the bottom in the first half of next year, but TSMC’s establishment of factories in the United States or other regions is already the director of the localization of semiconductor production capacity, and because TSMC may expand in Arizona in the next 4 to 5 years 5nm, and continue to build 3nm advanced process, so it is estimated that TSMC may become the largest foundry manufacturer in the United States by 2027.
