The Dubai Metaverse Forum, organized by the Dubai Future Foundation, kicked off today, Wednesday, with the attendance of more than 500 people, including officials, experts, and prominent figures from the government and private sectors, as well as speakers from 40 international companies.
The activities of the first day witnessed speeches and sessions from ministries, government agencies, and international companies such as Microsoft, Meta, Accenture, Binance, and other international companies.
The participants in the activities of the first day of the “Dubai Metaverse Forum” unanimously agreed that the new horizons that the Metaverse applications will open to developing work patterns, grow business sectors, and support economic, social, and human development are promising and possible opportunities for the digital economy in various societies.
The sessions discussed metaverses, the economy, its opportunities, and its impact, including the size of economic opportunities and the role of the UAE in exploring and realizing its potential in this sector. The Dubai Metaverse Strategy, launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation in July 2022, was also reviewed.
The speakers stressed the need to build a strong infrastructure for Web 3.0 technologies to allow for effective new experiences in the world of metavirs, stressing that metavirs enhances the sectors of trade and the global supply chain and open new horizons for training cadres, competencies, and talents.
The participants pointed out that the region, where youth constitute 70% of its population, has many opportunities to work on future economies and metaverses, stressing the importance of having regulatory frameworks for the new economy and metaverse applications, and continuing to develop advanced infrastructure, and then relying on talents and competencies, especially the young ones.
Over two days, the Dubai Metaverse Forum will witness more than 25 sessions, meetings, and workshops, with the aim of anticipating the future of metaverse and discussing benefiting from its potential and promising applications in creating opportunities, enhancing communication, developing services, improving the quality of life and designing a better future for humans.
The forum is the first event of its kind since the launch of the “Dubai Metaverse Strategy”, which aims to add $4 billion to the emirate’s GDP, create 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030, and multiply the number of companies operating in the blockchain and metaverse technology fivefold.
