Twitter’s new CEO and sole director, Elon Musk, according to The Washington Post, sent an email to all of the company’s remaining employees giving them the choice between committing to long working hours and high intensity or quitting.

The ultimatum comes from Musk, whose text of the letter was published by CNBC after he had already been fired, since his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, the company’s key executives, laid off half of its employees, and terminated work with a number of contractors working with the company without warning.

Also, in the past few days, Musk fired veteran engineers on Twitter after they criticized him publicly, or in the channels of the messaging service, Slack, through which the company’s employees communicate.

Since Musk took office on October 28, he has announced planned drastic changes on Twitter. However, he was forced to backtrack on one of the changes he insisted on rolling out quickly, which was the tweaking of his monthly subscription service, Twitter Blue.

The new version of Twitter Blue allows any subscriber who pays $ 7.99 per month to obtain the blue authentication badge, which was previously reserved for celebrities and politicians and was a sign that those who owned it could boast of.

But shortly after the mark became available last week, a flood of accounts impersonating celebrities, brands, or politicians began. In some cases, they have spread false information about influential companies.

For example, the account impersonating the multinational pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly created a serious problem after it tweeted: “We are excited to announce that insulin is now free.” The tweet remained on the social media platform for hours before it was deleted. The real Eli Lilly account then tweeted, “We apologize to those who received a misleading message from a fake Lilly account.”

Eli Lilly’s share price fell sharply after the false message was published, and the company decided to suspend advertising on Twitter indefinitely.

This, and Musk now plans to re-available the Twitter Blue service with the blue authentication mark, starting November 29.
