As the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event approaches, a series of leaks have provided substantial insights into the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. With just about a month left until the official unveiling, these leaks offer a comprehensive preview of the phones’ appearances and features.
On July 25th, a Twitter leak from Revegnus showcased a photo of a folded phone, likely the Galaxy Z Flip 5, encased in a blocky black cover. Although the case conceals much of the design, the visible elements align with previous renders, such as the predicted 3.4-inch 720 x 748 cover screen and the side-by-side camera lenses, indicating potential design upgrades.
While the case makes it difficult to confirm, the phone appears to fold flat, hinting at the possible utilization of Samsung’s rumored droplet-style folding technique. This folding method, previously seen in competitors’ phones like the Oppo Find N2, aims to minimize the visible crease that has plagued folding devices since their inception.
Another notable leaker, SnoopyTech, initiated a scavenger hunt that eventually led to leaked renders and specifications of both the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in various colors. The provided renders showcase colors such as Cream, Graphite, Mint, and Lavender for the Z Flip 5, and Icy Blue, Cream, and Phantom Black for the Z Fold 5.
In addition to color variations and apparent design tweaks, the leaks suggest upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPUs and thinner chassis for both devices, supporting previous rumors of a slimmer profile for the Z Fold 5. According to the leaked specifications, the Z Fold 5 will decrease from 14.2mm (the thinnest point of the folded Galaxy Z Fold 4) to 13.4mm. The Z Flip 5 will also become thinner, measuring 15.1mm when folded compared to the 15.9mm of the Z Flip 4. Additionally, the leaked information indicates a potential reduction in weight for the Z Fold 5 by 10 grams. Notably, the camera array of the Fold 5 may feature a 12MP telephoto lens, deviating from previous leaks suggesting a 10MP telephoto lens like its predecessor, the Fold 4.
However, the leaks do not include any mention of a 128GB or 1TB model for either phone. It’s worth noting that these storage options may still be available in the final release. Other specifications, such as battery life, Wi-Fi connectivity, and RAM, seem mostly unchanged based on SnoopyTech’s provided details.
As anticipation builds for the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, these leaks offer enthusiasts an exciting preview of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, revealing their design refinements and improved features.
