Apple says the strict coronavirus restrictions at the company’s factory located in China are causing it to operate at “significantly reduced capacity”.
Apple says it expects “long waiting times” if you plan to order the iPhone 14 Pro or the 14 Pro Max. In a press release, the company explained that the restrictions of the “covid-19” pandemic are affecting its iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, China, which is currently operating at “significantly reduced capacity.”
“We continue to see strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models,” Apple says. “However, we now expect iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments to be lower than we previously expected and customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products.”
In October, a Reuters report revealed that iPhone production could fall by at least 30 percent due to strict restrictions on Foxconn, the China-based manufacturer that Apple uses to make its new iPhones. As mentioned before, Foxconn’s 200,000 workers were recently forced to stay inside the building during a food outbreak and limited supplies for several days, causing workers to flee the facility in droves.
The company has already started shifting some production away from China and started making the base iPhone 14 model in India in September.
