Canva has announced a new suite of features that includes a range of AI-powered tools and a Brand Hub. These were unveiled during Canva Create, the company’s virtual event. Among the new tools is Assistant, which allows users to quickly search for design elements and access a variety of features. It also provides design recommendations, based on your existing design, using AI-powered tools such as Magic Write, Canva’s copywriting assistant.
Magic Write, which was previously only available in Canva Docs, can now be accessed in all Canva project types, including social media graphics and presentations. It can be used to write anything from website copy to presentation summaries, taking into account the type of project being worked on. Additionally, Magic Write is now available in 18 languages.
Canva has also launched several new design tools. Magic Design allows users to upload an image and select a style to receive a personalized template that can be customized. Magic Edit lets users add or replace elements in an image by identifying the area they want to change and describing it. Meanwhile, Magic Eraser allows users to brush over an area to remove unwanted details in an image.
Canva is also launching Beat Sync, which matches video footage to a chosen soundtrack, and a Translate feature that can translate text in designs into over 100 languages.
Alongside the new AI-powered tools, Canva is introducing several features that users have requested. Draw allows users to sketch a simple shape that is then transformed into a polished design. Layouts provides recommendations for layout ideas, while Styles gives users access to suggested color palettes and fonts. The Layers tool shows all elements in one place, including text, shapes, images, and video.
Canva’s new Brand Hub is designed to help teams stay on brand. It includes Magic Replace, which allows users to quickly update brand assets, such as logos, across designs on the platform. The hub also features tools for creating brand templates, folders, and guidelines. Admins can approve workflows in Canva to ensure designs are reviewed and approved before they’re published.
Canva co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins stated that the company is advancing its vision of empowering everyone to design anything, regardless of their experience. With over 120 million monthly users, Canva has seen a 35 million increase since the launch of Canva’s Visual Worksuite in September 2022. The platform has been used to create more than 15 billion designs since its launch in 2013.
