Apple has announced the dates for its highly anticipated annual event, WWDC 2023. Running from June 5th to June 9th, the conference will be held online once again, but with a “special experience” for developers and students at Apple Park on the first day of the event. Despite the pandemic slowly fading away, the company has decided to keep the conference virtual. However, there are high expectations for what the event may hold, including the debut of a new mixed-reality headset.

Rumors have been circulating that Apple will finally unveil its highly anticipated mixed reality headset, possibly called Reality Pro or Reality One, at WWDC 2023. The headset is believed to be a stand-alone device that boasts an M2 chip, dual 4K displays, advanced body tracking, and controller-free input that utilizes hand gestures and Siri commands. The headset may be geared towards developers and professionals, with a potential price tag of $3,000. However, it could also offer unique features such as health monitoring, full-body avatars for FaceTime calls, and wearable versions of iPhone and iPad experiences. Though there is a possibility that it may not be released until later in the year.

Aside from the highly anticipated mixed reality headset, other announcements expected at the conference are platform updates. These include previews of iOS 17, macOS 14, and watchOS 10, among others. Additionally, there may be updates to the company’s services. While there may not be updates to Apple’s existing hardware lineup, there may be introductions for some of the first M3-based Macs, building on last year’s announcement of the MacBook Air M2.

As with previous conferences, beta versions of the operating system updates should be available soon after WWDC, with the final versions arriving in the fall. Most of what attendees will see at the conference is a sneak peek of what’s coming in the months ahead. The event has generated much excitement, and all eyes are on Apple to see what new innovations it has in store for its users.
